Speak with the surgeon
A travel coordinator can arrange practical details, but clinical decisions belong with the surgeon. Ask about the proposed operation, the alternatives, the limits of the result, risks and how complications would be managed.
Check the complete care plan
Find out where the procedure will take place, who will be available afterward and how follow-up will work once you return home. Ask about relevant records, emergency contacts and costs if additional care is required.
Make travel plans around recovery
An operation and a holiday have different demands. Follow the surgeon’s advice on rest, check-ups, physical activity and when it is appropriate to fly. Leave flexibility in your booking in case recovery takes longer than expected.
Keep these questions in writing
- Who is responsible for my care at each stage?
- Which follow-up appointments take place before departure?
- Whom do I call if I have an unexpected symptom at home?
- How are clinical records shared with a doctor in my country?
