How does it work?
Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces activity in selected muscles. It can be considered for certain expression lines, but the treatment area, dose and anticipated result depend on your anatomy and medical history.
What should you discuss first?
Tell your clinician about previous injections, medicines, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any relevant medical conditions. Ask which areas are proposed, who will perform the procedure, what result is realistic and when a review may be needed.
What about risks and aftercare?
Temporary discomfort, bruising or asymmetry can occur. Other adverse effects depend on the injection site and product. Your clinician should explain the risks, aftercare instructions and what to do if you develop a concerning symptom. Avoid committing to a procedure before your questions are answered.
Questions to ask
- Which areas would you assess and why?
- What risks are relevant to my medical history?
- When should I seek advice after treatment?
